EVER since Range Rover figured out that a shorter, lighter, faster Range Rover might appeal to a younger customer base, the Sport series has been going gangbusters for the Jaguar Land Rover brand both here and overseas.
Demand for the new-generation car – out for a little over a year now – has been so high that there is currently a waiting list stretching out over six months, with the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 variant far and away the most popular option.
Now, JLR has used the Rangie Sport as a mule for its new Special Vehicle Operations outfit, adding more power, more sophisticated handling and a bit more flash to an already pretty impressive package.
There comes a point, however, when the question needs to be asked is there such a thing as too much power? At first blush, the answer in this case may well be yes.
