Mahindra Pik-Up Black mHawk takes flight

MAHINDRA has entered the flagship-ute game with its new Pik-Up Black mHawk that is priced at $38,990 plus on-road costs and sports a number of darkened exterior accessories to stand out from the crowd.

To differentiate the new top-spec grade, the Black mHawk gains 17-inch wheels, a sports bar, decals, fender flares, a bullbar and side steps – all finished in black, of course.

Power comes courtesy of the same 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine outputting 103kW of power and 330Nm of torque as its regular dual-cab Pik-up siblings, with drive sent to all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

Taking the former flagship S10 grade as a basis, the Black mHawk also features a 6.0-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation, climate control, daytime running lights, a reversing camera and Isofix anchorage points.

Though the Black mHawk is nearly $10,000 upstream of the S10 variant, which retails at $31,990 driveaway, Mahindra is also touting the toughened-up Pik-up will be a “limited-edition” but is yet to detail how many will be available.

Elsewhere, Mahindra is also offering its Tradie pack, which includes an aluminium tray, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, a ladder rack and a tow bar; on its 4x2 Single Cab S6 for $23,990 driveaway – an increase of $2000 over the usual price.

The $26,990 4x4 Single Cab S6 is also now bundled with an aluminium tray worth $2000 at no extra charge.

Both aforementioned S6 grades are also powered by the Black mHawk’s 103kW/330Nm 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine, while all versions are also equipped with an Eaton locking differential and a five-year warranty.

Mahindra Australia national manager Ankit Taneja said the Pik-up Black mHawk has been honed specifically for Australian environments and customers.

“We are very excited to announce that this is the first time that Mahindra has offered a limited-edition vehicle to the Australian public,” he said. “It was designed in Australia, for Australian conditions.”
