Mazda name game hots up

MAZDA is obviously leaving its options wide open with some new model names. In details submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the company has some interesting name registrations, with "active" status on the RX-1, RX-2, RX-3, RX-4, RX-5, RX-6 and RX-9.

The names MX-6, Mazda8, Mazda9 and Mazda REV have also been registered. With rumours growing every day of a tin-top version of the MX-5 roadster, and an expected public debut at the British motor show next month, the "MX-6" could be the first of these to come to light.
