Benz trials cheaper servicing

WITH more luxury car owners heading for independent auto service outlets, Mercedes-Benz Australia has introduced a nine-month trial for discounted servicing on the superseded W203 C-class series – the most successful model in the company’s history.

A basic or “Express Service” for a four-cylinder model C-class has been set at $320 compared with a typical cost of around $510 previously, while a more thorough ‘B’ service is $715, a saving of about $140.

The cost for a six-cylinder model will also be $320 for the ‘A’ service, but is slightly more for the ‘B’ service at $790.

The new deal is being offered by most but not all Mercedes-Benz dealerships and applies to more than 34,000 W203 C-class sedans, wagons and coupes sold from 2000 to 2007 (with the exception of the C55 AMG) and runs until December 31.

Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific service and parts chief Frank La Serra said the company wanted more of its vehicles to be serviced by factory-trained technicians in authorised service centres equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment.

“We want more of our customers to experience the after-sales service Mercedes-Benz offers,” said Mr La Serra.

“Our marque is famous for many things longevity is one of them, and correctly caring for your car is arguably one of the most effective methods to reduce the cost of car ownership.

“The durability and performance of our vehicles are long-standing characteristics of the Mercedes-Benz marque, and that has been partly achieved by customers applying the correct workshop care and attention when maintaining their car.”
