THE dual-zone climate control air-conditioning system, called THERMATIC by Benz, is controlled by a combination of push-buttons and dials. It features automatic blower control and air distribution. Two sensors monitor the interior temperature and relay data to the system so it can respond to temparature changes. A third sensor supplies a micro-computer with data on air humidity and permits infintely variable control of the newly developed air-conditioning compressor. The driver's individual settings are stored by the system and resume with the same program settings the next time the vehicle is driven. A huge vent sits at the base of the windscreen in the middle of the dashboard and looks like an audio speaker.
