MERCEDES-BENZ has grouped the controls together in integrated panels, rather than designing them as individual switches. The multi-function steering wheel is coupled to a central display in the instrument cluster where 50 individual functions, such as automatic door locking or mirror adjustment, are housed along with stereo and telephone settings. The steering wheel itself adjusts manually for both reach and height, while a column-mounted stalk is used for indicators and (variable intermittent) wipers. Headlights and fog lamps are controlled by a rotary dial on the dash, positioned alongside controls for headlight angle adjustment, external mirrors and the park-brake release. Electric window switchgear is located on the doors. The top row of buttons on the dash fascia includes door lock/unlock, rear headrest control, ESP on/off and the hazard lights. An electric sunroof with memory function is available as an option.
