Mercedes-Benz improves the SLK breed

RELEASED last week, Mercedes-Benz calls it a special edition SLK roadster, but a number of new updates to the drop-top Benz will actually become part of SLK’s new standard specification.

The updated SLK range is now available, differentiated externally by an exclusive chrome-silver metallic grille, high-gloss polished aluminium A-pillar trim and vario-roof, chromed boot lid handle and 16-inch five-double-spoke alloys.

Inside there are new sports seats in either black or red nappa leather - with matching door and rollover bar trims - plus a brushed aluminium centre console, gearshift gate and door handles, silver instrument markings, metal-look trip/clock controls, black climate control panel, chrome or red velour floormats and more Special Edition logos.

The SLK200 Kompressor, SLK230 Kompressor and SLK320 will offer the special edition specification as standard, except for those customers wishing to option AMG extras, for no extra cost.

Pricing is the same $86,174, $96,274 and $112,074 respectively.

Mercedes-Benz has sold over 2500 SLK Roadsters in Australia since the car’s release late in 1996, with the SLK230 accounting for more than 80 per cent of total sales.
