MERCEDES-MAYBACH is building the anticipation around its massive coupe concept ahead of its first public outing at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance next week, with a second teaser shot which, this time, offers a peep at its nose.
The single front elevation follows a dimly-lit profile image that was revealed last week, slowly piecing together the near six-metre long coupe, ahead of a full unadulterated look in the United States on August 18.
Like the first image, the German car-maker turned to social media to release the shot with no further detail accompanying the picture.
Officially, the car’s full name is the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 and the latest instalment in the hype campaign reveals its expansive 25-bar chrome-look grille bookended by slender triple headlights and another angle of its vast bonnet.
The closer view also details the car’s Shrek-ear door mirrors and muscular front bumper as well as confirmation that it will wear both the three-pointed star Merc badge and the Maybach moniker.
Maybach is yet to talk about the potential for a production model that might evolve from the mighty concept, which would double the current range alongside the S-Class based S600 luxury large sedan.
Rivals to the huge coupe are thin on the ground but the Rolls-Royce Wraith would be a direct luxury contender.
Powertrain possibilities could range anywhere from a hybrid, plug-in version or more performance-focused petrol derived from something in the hand-built AMG catalogue.
It is understood that the 6 nameplate refers to the Maybach’s imposing length which, at 5453mm extends almost to six metres.
