Mini put into Park

ANOTHER week, another pair of Mini special editions named after prominent London landmarks.

The Hyde Park and Green Park specials add a range of cosmetic upgrades to either Hatch or Clubman models, and arrive hot on the heels of the Baker Street and Bayswater special editions revealed earlier this year.

Mini Australia product communications manager Scott Croaker told GoAuto that both versions will be available in Australia by the end of the year.

Numbers will be strictly limited, with all orders to come out of the company’s existing factory allocation.

The Hyde Park combines ‘discreet’ Pepper White paint with contrasting Hot Chocolate brown paint on the roof and mirrors, brown stripes on the doors and bonnet and indicators integrated into the headlights.

The Green Park gets the same exterior accoutrements, only this time in the famous British Racing Green hue.



Inside both versions are cloth/leather seats, a leather-lined dash and white highlights on the dash and doors. However, the special dash surfacing will not make it to Australia due to cost.

Both versions are available on Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper D and Cooper SD variants in either six-speed manual or automatic guise.

They should attract a substantially smaller price premium than past efforts (the Bayswater added $3400). Mini Australia expects the cost to be substantially lower than the European price of €500 (A$630).

Hyde Park spans some 140 hectares in the centre of London while Green Park covers19 hectares alongside Buckingham Palace.
