Limited-edition Mini Hatch is red

MINI Australia has released a limited-run Kensington Edition model grade to span its three- and 5-door Cooper and Cooper S hatch range, with just 15 examples of each available from $41,900 driveaway.
In total, 60 units have been allocated to Australia, each with a number of unique styling touches to set them apart from the rest of the British hatchback line-up.
Pricing for the Kensington Edition starts at $41,990 driveaway for the base three-door Cooper, moving up to $43,150 for the 5-door.
The warmer Cooper S in three- and five-door form commands an $11,000 premium over its Cooper counterparts at $52,900 and $54,150 respectively.
The vehicle is distinguished by a Pure Burgundy metallic paint scheme, which was previously exclusive to Mini's Clubman range, as well as an illuminated door sill and unique 'K' badging on the side pillar.
Standard kit fits mostly in-line with the variants upon which they are based, with all Kensington Edition versions equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and Cooper S grades gaining a ‘sportier’ shift calibration.
The Kensington Edition also features an 8.8-inch infotainment system, LED headlights, white indicator lenses, climate control and a wireless phone charger.
The vehicle also sports a black roof and mirror caps, John Cooper Works (JCW) roof spoiler, panoramic sunroof, leather steering wheel and anthracite headliner.
The Cooper is equipped with 16-inch alloys and cloth and leather upholstery, however the Cooper S versions get 17-inch hoops, Carbon Black leather upholstery and seat heaters.
Mini's Driver Assist Package is onboard, which features city collision mitigation, forward collision warning high-beam assist and speed sign detection.
Cooper variants are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which produces 100kW of power and 220Nm of torque, while the Cooper S ups the ante to 141kW/280Nm with its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol four-cylinder donk.
Mini does not offer driveaway pricing for its full time Hatch range, but for perspective, the standard three-door Cooper is priced at $29,900 plus on-road costs and $31,150 for the 5-door, with the Cooper S costing an extra $10,000 in both cases.
The Mini Kensington Edition is now available to order online, but with such small numbers, Mini Australian general manager Brett Waudby warned customers to be quick to secure an order.
“We like to showcase what’s unique about the brand” he said.
“With Kensington we have taken this a step further by offering customers the ability to secure their allocation online. With only 60 units coming, the race is on.”
