PERHAPS Evo's biggest bugbear is the lack of security system that warrants fitment in an $80K car, let alone one that's as likely to be the target of the smash-and-grab set. Like base model Lancers (and even the Mirage), the Evo makes do with a regular, transponder-type immobiliser and central locking with internal lock function. Which means there's no remote key, let alone the invaluable protection afforded by two-stage unlocking or auto locking.
