MITSUBISHI'S Ralliart Magna is a logical extension of the brand that has become synonymous with refinement, value and, just lately, performance. More than just the fastest, most powerful and wildest factory Magna ever produced, it is proof of how keen Mitsubishi is to shed its cardigan-toting image. Trading on the successful Ralliart name is one thing, but turning Magna into a legitimate rival for the likes of Holden's S and SS Commodores and Ford's XR-series Falcons is another matter altogether. There is no question Mitsubishi's hairy-chested six-pack delivers the performance to worry more than a few V8s, but when it comes to dynamics the front-drive Ralliart Magna falls short of its more traditional Aussie sports sedan rivals in most driving situations.
