Mitsubishi adds $5000 value to Magna

MITSUBISHI is giving the Magna a pre-GST market boost by including $5000 of free extras for a limited time.

The company is producing about 1500 units of the V6Si model, which includes just about everything the potential Magna buyer would want at a bargain price.

The V6Si is based on the 3.5-litre V6 Magna Executive, which already comes with air-conditioning, alarm, central locking, electric mirrors, power steering and a trip computer.

With the limited edition package, buyers also get 16-inch alloy wheels, anti-lock brakes, six-CD stacker, cruise control, rear spoiler and driver airbag.

Both the interior and exterior get special treatment with different trim and paint.

The 16-inch alloy wheels come from the United States export model Diamante, which is selling poorly in the US, leaving Mitsubishi with plenty of stock in Adelaide.

Despite speculation continuing to rage about the company's future, Mitsubishi Australia is reasonably pleased with its sales this year and has successfully reduced its Magna stockpile.

There is even a waiting list of one to two months on some popular models.

Lancer sales have also been strong since last year's upgrade, which was helped along by a limited edition VRX package of 500 units each for the coupe and sedan.

These were quickly snapped up so Mitsubishi has decided to repeat the exercise this year on a bigger scale.

The VRX adds a body kit with rear spoiler, 14-inch alloy wheels, white instrument dials, central locking, exhaust extension, body coloured mirrors and door handles, a blue/black interior and unique grille for an extra $1500 over the regular Lancer prices.

The package is available with the 1.5-litre coupe or 1.8-litre sedan and this time Mitsubishi is making 1000 units of each model available.

Like the Magna V6Si, manual or automatic transmissions are available.

Mitsubishi will soon start building the upgraded Magna, which will be launched in August.
