AFTER 18 months on sale, Mitsubishi has given its underpowered Outlander the urge it needs to be competitive in the stove-hot compact SUV market. But a gutsier 2.4-litre MIVEC engine isn't the end of the updated Outlander story. While there's no manual, a sequential-shift automatic, subtle styling changes, more equipment, the addition of a flagship VR-X variant and attractive new pricing now make Outlander a must-drive if you're in the market for a small soft-roader like X-Trail, Rav4 or CR-V.
