THE iO is Mitsubishi's crack at the lifestyle market dominated by vehicles such as the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4 and Suzuki Vitara. It joins the Vitara by offering true off-road ability but this compromises the way it performs on the road - which is more like a scaled-down Pajero. It is not as happy on the tarmac as a RAV4 or CR-V. Still, it's size makes it handy around town and it is relatively easy on fuel.
