Mitsubishi released the facelift of its fifth-generation Triton ute in January 2019.

It arrived with a striking new front-end design, higher specification and an engineering overhaul with new active safety technologies, a six-speed automatic transmission and claims of improved refinement and rigidity.

The bold ‘dynamic shield’ front fascia incorporated higher-set slimline headlights, an updated grille, a revised lower bumper and a sculpted bonnet.

At the rear, the bumper was integrated into the bodywork for more streamlined look, while the bed sides were restyled and the tail-lights updated. 

Inside, silver detailing and soft-touch materials were added throughout, and a double-stitched finish was applied to the front central armrest, knee pads, cente-console bin lid, handbrake and gear selector.

Second-row occupants had access to a USB outlet, while trays were fitted around the centre console for easy smartphone or tablet stowage, and a roof-mounted air vent emerged with four levels of airflow adjustment.

Advanced driver-assist systems extended to autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian detection, and lane departure warning, among others.
