MITSUBSIHI Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) will now offer its Triton GLS and GSR grades with a ‘sub-1000kg’ payload option, allowing buyers a broader range of finance alternatives, including access to private novated leases.
Production of the variants will begin this month, meaning deliveries should commence before the end of the year.
The lower payload variants will be offered alongside Mitsubishi’s existing Triton range, all of which offer a payload capacity in excess of 1000kg (1030-1110kg).
“We have taken on feedback from dealers, media and most importantly our customer base, said MMAL chief executive officer Shaun Westcott.
“The result is the introduction of an enhanced model range with the addition of variants that offer payloads of under 1000kg.”
While MMAL has not detailed the exact reduction in payload for each grade, it has indicated the variants’ 3500kg braked towing capacity will remain – alongside the specifications and pricing already known to the market (see below).
Currently, all Mitsubishi Triton variants offed in the Australian market are powered by a 2.4-litre twin-turbocharged four-cylinder diesel unit mated exclusively with a six-speed automatic transmission.
At launch, MMAL said it would offer a manual transmission alternative alongside single-cab body styles and at least one other engine alternative, none of which is yet to materialise.
