IT may just look like a child’s sketch, below, but this is an outline of Nissan’s forthcoming Infiniti G crossover coupe concept.
The Japanese car-maker will unveil both the crossover coupe and the Infiniti G coupe at the New York auto show in April.
Although the sketch does not reveal too much except a silhouette, it makes it clear this concept will join the emerging crossover coupe segment.
Nissan says the concept will lead to a production CUV, which will arrive at the end of 2007.
"Since the Infiniti coupe concept was unveiled last year, there’s been a lot of speculation about the new G coupe and what it will look like," according to the vice president and general manager of Infiniti, Mark Igo.
"We’re looking forward to the introduction of the G coupe and the luxury crossover concept at this year’s New York auto show."Infiniti is not alone in exploring the crossover coupe idea.
Euro car-makers like BMW is said to be toying with coupe versions of its X3 and X5, possibly called the X4 and X6, while Volkswagen is working on an all-wheel drive coupe version of its Concept A.
Land Rover too is exploring the possible coupe crossover segment with a two-door vehicle based on the Freelander platform. The car is aimed at attracting younger buyers to the marque and could be on sale by 2013.
