THE Maxima has been distinguished by an outstanding powerplant since the VQ 3.0-litre V6 was introduced on the previous model in 1995. The all-alloy engine is remarkable for its smoothness and power delivery and has been upgraded in the latest Maxima to produce 10 per cent more power and five per cent more torque. It is still difficult to think of a better mass production engine.
