THE Patrol's braking system is a solid, no-nonsense setup with four ventilated discs (larger at the back than at the front) and a transmission operated parking brake. Apportioning of brake pressure according to load disposition is by linkage-type valve that sends more braking to the rear wheels as load increases. The optional "intelligent" anti-lock system is unusual in that it continues to operate when the differential lock is engaged. The ABS also incorporates gravel road awareness and changes mode according to the road surface being traversed.
