THE XR and XT models are powered by a 1587cc four-cylinder engine, good for 67kW at 5600rpm and 137Nm at 3000rpm. It's no high-tech powerplant, using eight valves and a single overhead camshaft. Independent performance figures put the manual to 100km/h in 11.7 seconds and 400m in just over 18. It is miserly on fuel - the city cycle is listed at 8.0L/100km, but money saved will go on the extra expense required for premium unleaded.
