Peugeot lands 207 Sportium

PEUGEOT has released a special-edition ‘Sportium’ version of its smallest model, the 207, priced from $21,990 plus on-road costs.

While the 1.4-litre petrol XR manual continues to open the five-door 207 hatchback range at $19,990, the 207 Sportium offers a saving of $2000 over the 1.6-litre petrol XR hatch ($23,990) upon which it is based.

The five-door 207 Sportium hatch is also available in 1.6-litre petrol automatic ($23,990) and 1.6-litre HDi turbo-diesel manual ($25,190) guises, both of which also offer a host of extra standard features.

They include 16-inch ‘Estoril’ alloy wheels, sports bumpers, foglights, rear parking sensors, rear power windows, a leather steering wheel, tailored carpet mats, privacy glass, aluminium pedals, door sills and gear knob (manual), ‘Dark silk’ interior trim and body-coloured side mouldings.

All three Euro 5 emissions-compliant Sportium special-editions are available now in four metallic exterior paint colours – Moroccan Red, Thorium Grey, Aluminium Grey and Onyx Black – plus Bianca White.

The release of the value-added Sportium models follows the release of the facelifted 207 range in December, the fitment of electronic stability control as standard equipment across the 207 range in January and a $2000 price reduction for most 207 hatch, wagon and coupe-convertible model variants in June.

To July this year sales of the 207 – Peugeot Automobiles Australia’s second best selling model behind the 308 – are down about a quarter compared with the same period in 2009, helping to depress Peugeot sales by almost five per cent overall.
