New oil-burners for 307

PEUGEOT has blessed its Australian 307 hatch and wagon range with new-generation turbo-diesel technology.

The two new Euro 4 emissions-compliant HDi powerplants - a 1.6-litre and a 2.0-litre, both equipped with particulate filters - offer improved power, torque and fuel economy over the engine they replace.

The 1.6 litre HDi engine is available in the 307 hatch and Touring, and compared to the previous generation 2.0-litre 307 HDi is 21 percent more powerful, producing 80kW instead of 66kW at the same 4000rpm.

Even more significant is the increase in engine torque, which increases from 205Nm at 2000rpm to 240Nm at 1750rpm.

The new intercooled 2.0-litre engine is available in the Touring only, boasting 100kW of power and a big 320Nm of torque.

In terms of fuel economy, the new 307 XSR Touring 2.0-litre HDi records 7.3L/100km and 4.7L/100km, while the 307 XSR HDi 1.6 averages just 6.1L/100km in the City Cycle and 4.3L/100km in the highway cycle, making them two of the most economical cars available in Australia.

The 2.0-litre Touring HDi accelerates to 100 km/h in 10.1 seconds, and the 1.6-litre hatch HDi in 11.2 seconds.

The 307 HDi’s standard kit continues to include 16-inch alloy wheels, climate control air-conditioning, ABS with EBD and six airbags.
