Peugeot prices inbound 408 Hybrid

PEUGEOT has announced pricing for its incoming 408 GT Premium Fastback Hybrid, the single-grade offering to replace the plug-in hybrid variant sold previously with a 48V mild-hybrid alternative.

 

Available from $57,990 plus on-road costs, the newcomer retails for $10,000 less than its predecessor, and features a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and electric motor combination offering total system output of 100kW (-65kW) and 230Nm (-130Nm).

 

Drive is to the front wheels with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission which replaces the PHEV’s eight-speed automatic.

 

Capable of driving on electric power alone, courtesy of the electric motor’s 16kW and 51Nm output, the Peugeot 408 GT Premium Fastback Hybrid is said to return a Combined cycle fuel consumption figure of 4.7 litres per 100km with CO2 emissions of 107 grams per kilometre.

 

The 408 GT Premium Fastback Hybrid measures 4865mm in length, 1859mm in width, 1485mm in height, and rides on a 2790mm wheelbase. Cargo capacity is listed at 471 litres with the rear seats in place and 1545 litres all told.

 

Standard equipment for the Medium segment offering includes 19-inch alloy wheels, matrix LED headlights, LED tail-lights, LED ambient cabin lighting, keyless entry and ignition, leather upholstery, a frameless rear-view mirror, climate control air quality monitor, rain-sensing wipers, and an opening panoramic roof (previously a $2000 option).

 

Infotainment and instrumentation duties fall to separate 10.0-inch screens, the former offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, 3D satellite navigation, 360-degree camera technology, and a 10-speaker Focal audio bundle.

 

Active and passive safety technologies include front and rear parking sensors, AEB with low-light pedestrian and cyclist detection, long-range blind-spot detection, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go functionality, lane centring assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

 

No ANCAP rating is currently available, however EuroNCAP issued the 408 with a four-star safety rating based upon testing of the related 308 hatch.

 

Okenite White is the only no-cost paint colour available with Artense Grey, Nera Black, and Obsession Blue attracting a $690 surcharge. Also available is Elixir Red which attracts a $1050 price premium.

 

Peugeot Australia backs its passenger vehicle range with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, but has yet to advise service intervals and pricing for the 408 GT Premium Fastback Hybrid.

 

Customer deliveries of the new Peugeot 408 are set to commence in the first quarter of 2025.
