PORSCHE Cars Australia will sell its forthcoming Boxster-based Cayman S from $148,500 when the mid-engine coupe arrives around March next year.
As expected, Porsche has retained a buffer of around $50,000 to its 997-series 911 Carrera coupe, which retails from $195,255.
This is also in line with the performance gap between the two coupes. The Cayman S uses a new 217kW 3.4-litre six-cylinder boxer engine, which is short of the 911 Carrera’s 239kW 3.6-litre engine.
The standard transmission is a Boxster-derived six-speed manual, with Porsche’s familiar five-speed Tiptronic S auto available for another $7000.
