Petrol leak prompts Porsche Macan recall

PORSCHE Cars Australia (PCA) has issued a safety recall for 1302 petrol-powered Macan SUVs to check for a potential fuel leak under the bonnet.

The company says a low-pressure fuel line will be replaced as a precaution to prevent the chance of fire.

PCA says it has had no reports of any leaks of fires in Macans in this market.

It is the second safety recall for a fuel leak in Porsche vehicles this year, with the Cayenne S Hybrid and Panamera S Hybrid pulled back to dealerships in March to check for leaking fuel injection rails.

The latest recall affects 788 Macan S and 514 Macan Turbo petrol-engine SUVs in Australia, and is part of a global recall involving 58,881 vehicles. No diesel Macans have been recalled.

The recall was triggered by an unspecified number of complaints overseas about fuel lines leaking a small amount of fuel at a connection point under the bonnet.

Porsche says affected Macan owners will be contacted by dealers to arrange the free repair, which should take about an hour.
