WITH the conference call, internet and easy air travel, grand tourers may have lost ground with their practical advantages of covering large distances quickly and in comfort, but they have lost none of their allure. Porsche’s first grand touring sedan, the Panamera, has been criticised for its looks, but none can say it doesn’t deliver enormous volumes of performance and handling in a comfortable, roomy package. Australia has plenty of big gaps between its cities, and Porsche has just offered its buyers the most compelling argument yet for driving between them.
