PROTON is due to announce a new alliance deal this month, and General Motors looks to be the front-runner after PSA Peugeot Citroen broke off discussions this week. VW is also still in the frame.
"An in-depth study of the automobile market and the economic conditions for co-producing vehicles with Proton concluded that the conditions for the project’s success were not present," PSA Peugeot Citroen said in a statement this week.
