Renault launches flagship Catptur Intens S-Edition

RENAULT Australia has released a new top-spec Captur Intens S-Edition small SUV, powered by a 110kW/250Nm 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, priced from $32,990 driveaway and limited to just 162 units.
The new special-edition French small SUV is paired exclusively to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends drive to the front wheels and, with 22kW/60Nm more than the former 88kW/190Nm 1.2-litre Captur Intens flagship, will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 9.2 seconds.
Despite the increase in performance, the Intens S-Edition is actually more frugal than 1.2-litre-powered Capturs with an official fuel economy rating of 5.4 litres per 100km compared with 5.8L/100km.
Differences in the new 1.3-litre unit include new cylinder head, bore spray coating, variable valve timing with rocker arm and a high-pressure direct injection system.
Aside from the powertrain upgrade, the Intens S-Edition also sports an exclusive two-tone Iron Blue and Diamond Black roof colour combination, as well as 17-inch ‘Filante’ alloy wheels and variant-specific badging.
Buyers can also opt for three other exterior colours shared with the rest of the Captur range, including Pearl White, Mercury Grey and Oyster Grey, all with a contrasting black roof.
Other features include contrasting Gun Metal Grey door protection inserts and skid plates, Alcantara interior upholstery with blue highlight stitching, parking sensors all round, reversing camera, premium Bose sound system, blind-spot warning and Renault’s R-Link 2 infotainment system.
Pricing puts the new Intens S-Edition at the top of the Renault Captur tree, which kicks off at $21,990 before on-roads for the manual Zen, $24,990 for the self-shifting Zen and $28,990 for the aforementioned Intens.
Renault Australia has increased sales of its Captur small SUV by 26.0 per cent this year, clocking 383 new registrations to the end of October.
In the booming sub-$40,000 small SUV segment, Renault’s contender trails the leading Mitsubishi ASX (16,473), Mazda CX-3 (13,923), Nissan Qashqai (11,619) and Subaru XV (11,419).
