THE compact nature of the Clio cockpit ensures all controls are never far away. The driver is provided with a footrest, seat height and lumbar adjustment and a steering column that adjusts for height but not reach. On the steering column are levers for headlights and (variable intermittent) windscreen wipers - the indicators are worked via the left-hand stalk - and an excellent set of controls for the stereo. Horn buttons are located on both the steering wheel and the tip of the indicator stalk, the latter being a French specialty. Electric window (front only) and external mirror switchgear is located on the driver's door, while the centre console has a button for door lock/unlock alongside the ashtray and power outlet. A large hazard light button is positioned ahead of the gearstick.
