Updates inbound for Renault Kangoo

BY MATT BROGAN | 23rd Jul 2024

RENAULT Australia has announced the introduction of three new petrol-powered variants to its Kangoo light commercial van range, each benefitting from the inclusion of a suite of updated ADAS technologies and optional equipment packages.

Now available from $38,990 plus on-road costs, the Kangoo range commences with the short-wheelbase 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol six-speed manual. It is followed by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission equipped sibling, and a long-wheelbase variant, also featuring a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Further up the range are carryover short- and long-wheelbase all-electric E-Tech models.

Renault Australia says the latest Kangoo variants are equipped with two front seats featuring six-way driver and four-way passenger adjustment, the latest generation ADAS technologies, an 8.0-inch infotainment array, multiple body colour choices, and a suite of optional packs to “suit trades and businesses of all types”.

The Kangoo range now benefits from enhanced ADAS technologies including AEB with cyclist, pedestrian and intersection detection, hill start assist, lane departure warning, and cruise control with speed limiter function.

Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and intervention, driver attention alert, high beam assist, and tyre pressure monitoring are available optionally.

Petrol-powered Kangoo variants are fitted as standard with dusk-sensing headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a 4.2-inch instrumentation display, reversing camera, rear parking sensors, front power windows, air-conditioning, heated and electronically controlled wing mirrors, idle-stop, and a full-size spare wheel.

Option bundles include the Business Pack ($3200) with tyre pressure monitoring, keyless entry and ignition, colour-coded door handles, climate control, adaptive cruise control, centre console, wireless device charging pad, tinted rear glass, front fog lights, and LED headlights.

Renault’s Trade Pack ($1200) sees the Kangoo fitted with timber floor lining in the cargo bay, full-height wall lining, yard kit underbody protection, and LED cargo lighting.

The Peace of Mind Pack ($1500) adds blind spot intervention, front, side and rear parking sensors, driver attention alert, high beam assist, satellite navigation, and traffic sign recognition with overspeed prevention.

The Renault Kangoo is further offered with singular options including a 200kg payload upgrade on SWB variants ($600), smart rear-view mirror ($800), sliding door delete (NCO), and glazed left- and right sliding doors ($400).

Colour options for the Renault Kangoo see Mineral White and Urban Grey solid hues offered as standard with Carmin Red, Diamond Black, Highland Grey and Oyster Grey available as an $800 option.

Renault Kangoo models offer up to 4.2 cubic metres of cargo volume, up to 756kg of payload capacity, and up to 1500kg of braked towing capacity.

Petrol models are powered by a 1.3-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 96kW and 240Nm with a combined cycle fuel consumption number as low as 6.2 litres per 100km.

“With its bold, contemporary design, a brand-new interior and the latest in driver assistance technologies, including AEB with pedestrian, cyclist and junction detection, the new Renault Kangoo is a proven and valuable tool for small businesses,” said Renault Australia general manager Glen Sealey.

Renault Kangoo petrol models are backed by a five-year/200,000km warranty.

Year-to-date sales figures show the Renault Kangoo continues to tail segment rivals including the Peugeot Partner and Volkswagen Caddy.

Within the Vans/CC under 2.5t segment, Renault has sold just 42 examples of the Kangoo to the end of June compared with 282 examples of the Peugeot Partner and 394 Volkswagen Caddy van models.
