Rolls-Royce teases Dawn Silver Bullet Collection

JUST a week after Bentley revealed its bespoke Mulliner Bacalar, Rolls-Royce has unveiled its own take on a super-limited two-seat roadster, the Dawn Silver Bullet Collection.

Drawing on more than a century of heritage, the Dawn Silver Bullet Collection harps back to the classic roadsters of the 1920s and pays homage to the prestige brand’s long-standing love affair with the ‘Silver’ nameplate.

Just 50 units will be produced as part of the collection, all underpinned by the familiar Dawn Drophead platform and powered by the monstrous twin-turbocharged 6.6-litre V12 petrol engine, though it remains to be seen if a power bump is in store.

Early teaser sketches indicate that the Dawn Silver Bullet Collection will be longer and lower than its donor car in almost every dimension, including its wheelbase.

Other details are few and far between at this stage although Rolls-Royce has revealed a couple of key styling and equipment details, including what it deems the car’s defining feature.

“The hero of the Collection is undoubtedly the Aero Cowling, which shifts the persona of the car’s high-shouldered silhouette, heightening the sense of speed and purpose,” it said in the official teaser press release.

The new cowling effectively nullifies the rear passenger compartment, transforming the Dawn from a 2+2 cabriolet into a full-on two-seater roadster.

Fittingly for its nameplate, all 50 examples will be finished in a newly commissioned bespoke ‘ultra-metallic silver’ paint finish while the cowling will also be adorned with a vapour-blasted titanium finisher brandishing the Silver Bullet name and silhouette.

To add an extra aura of muscularity, darkened headlights and a new dark front bumper finisher have been added in contrast to the silver body colour.

Inside, occupants are greeted by a unique open-pore carbon-fibre fascia while a quilted leather transmission tunnel with contrasting stitching splits the driver and passenger seats.

Local pricing, availability and exact specification are yet to be confirmed, although it would be safe to assume the pricetag will be well north of the current Dawn Black Badge’s $850,000 plus on-road costs starting price.
