ROLLS-ROYCE has updated its Ghost model range with BMW-derived styling and technology inclusions. The model is yet to be formally priced for the local market, with incremental adjustments to the sticker price expected over the $645,000 sticker.
The Ghost Series II is characterised by a remoulded front-end replete with slimmed LED headlights, illuminated grille, and a renewed motif for the high-grade Black Badge. Further changers include twin-stripe LED tail-lights, and new alloy wheel designs in 22-inch diameter.
As was the case previously, the Ghost Black Badge offers blackened garnishing and door handles, as well as individually styled alloy wheels (also in 22-inch diameter).
Rolls-Royce will also offer a new Mustique Blue paint finish it says references the 1929 Phantom II Continental prototype created for co-founder Henry Royce’s personal use.
“(The) Ghost Series II represents the fundamental tenets of Rolls-Royce – serenity, effortlessness and elegance – distilled into an expressive, monolithic form,” explained Rolls-Royce Motor Cars head of exterior design Juliane Blasi.
“Our clients asked for a design that would provide a stage for their Bespoke colour and material choices, whether quiet and restrained or bold and expressive.
“In line with their requirements, Ghost Series II is characterised by meaningful refinements that further enhance the car’s standing as a potent canvas for creativity.”
Moving inside we find heavily revised infotainment software including Whispers smartphone connectivity with remote vehicle tracking, door locking, and send-to-car navigation functionality. A digitised instrument panel is also offered for the first time.
Further back, Rolls-Royce now includes Bluetooth connectivity for the rear-seat entertainment screens and the ability to connect two streaming devices. “Discretely hidden” USB-C and Wi-Fi connectivity is now included, as is an 18-speaker/400-watt audio system and Spirit of Ecstasy clock cabinet.
New interior garnishing and upholstery offerings are further offered, including a bamboo-sourced material for the sustainably minded.
The Rolls-Royce Ghost II remains powered by the company’s renowned 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine. The unit produces a claimed 420kW and 850Nm in standard trim with Black Badge models upped to 441kW and 900Nm.
All other mechanical specifications remain as per the outgoing model, including the famed Magic Carpet Ride air suspension system with satellite and camera-assisted real-time adjustment technology.
“(The) Ghost is renowned as a uniquely expressive, agile, and self-assured representation of the Rolls-Royce brand,” said Rolls-Royce Motor Cars chief executive Chris Brownridge.
“At our clients’ request, this new Series II iteration remains faithful to these principles, incorporating a potent and uncompromising engine and the essential potential for Bespoke.
“Meaningful exterior and material updates make an even more expressive and impactful statement.
“This new generation of Ghost also has extraordinary handling capabilities based on a number of advanced chassis innovations.
“This secures Ghost Series II’s status as the most technologically advanced and driver-focused V12 Rolls-Royce ever created – a side of Ghost’s character that our clients increasingly and enthusiastically embrace.”
