A dual-mass flywheel aims to increase refinement, while better-grade starter motors and alternators are fitted for greater efficiency and reliability. Some 90 per cent of engine components are new or strengthened to increase the general structural strength of the engine for its torque-axis mounted application. A new Siemens engine management system and dual knock sensors are fitted, meaning the Rover 75 will cope with low-octane Australian fuels. A variable intake system helps increase torque at low revs, as do the long-stroke bore dimensions of 80.0 x 82.8mm - and the result is 240Nm at 4000rpm and 130kW at 6500rpm. Compression ratio is 10.5:1.
