SMART announced last week that its new C451-series ForTwo runabout will go on sale later this month priced from $19,990 – only $90 more than its price for the past four years, yet with the addition of more equipment and performance.
The new-generation ForTwo cabrio also increases in price by just $90 to $22,990, with the same enhancements.
As well as coupe and cabriolet bodystyles, the two-seater ForTwo will come with two engine variants for the first time, both of which are considerably more powerful than the previous turbocharged 0.7-litre three-cylinder unit.
The new engines are 1.0-litre three-cylinder units, in either non-turbo form (which is 7kW more powerful at 52kW but down 3Nm to 92Nm of torque compared to the superseded engine) or turbocharged (62kW and 120Nm).
The turbocharged engine option adds $2000 to the price and is available in both coupe and cabriolet models.
