BRZ tS and Boost Gear Crosstrek break cover

SUBARU has showcased two exciting new variants at the annual Subinats owners’ festival, the off-road oriented Boost Gear Crosstrek and hotly anticipated BRZ tS.

Adding more edge to the already popular models, Subaru says the lifestyle focused variants are a “glimpse into what lies ahead”, confirming the BRZ tS will join its Aussie portfolio in 2024.

Short for “tuned by STI”, the BRZ tS is a performance-focused variant Subaru says embodies the spirit of its dedication to delivering outstanding driving experiences.

The variant is distinguished by a host of exclusive features, including STI tuned suspension, four-wheel Brembo brakes, 18-inch alloys in a Dark Grey metallic finish, tS badging, black mirror caps and antenna, Ultrasuede and leather-accented upholstery, an STI ignition button, and STI instrument cluster.

Mechanically, the BRZ tS is otherwise identically to the donor model. The MY24 BRZ range will also feature Subaru’s now-for-manual EyeSight safety technology, as previously announced.

“The BRZ is a fantastic all-round package and the Subaru engineers have gone one step further with the tS variant’s handling, performance and design,” said Subaru Australia managing director, Blair Read.

“The engineering attention to detail is what makes the BRZ the complete driver’s package.”

Mr Read confirmed the variant will join the range “sometime in 2024” and said more information, including availability and pricing, will be announced soon.

The Subaru BRZ tS was joined by an off-road ready version of the Crosstrek, known as the Boost Gear, and initially showcased at the recent Tokyo Auto Salon.

Boasting an array of off-road focused enhancements and accessories developed in conjunction with customer feedback, the variant is aimed at what Subaru calls “adventure loving drivers”.

The variant offers 230mm of ground clearance, courtesy of a suspension lift kit, all-terrain tyres, a distinctive matte body wrap and decals, front and rear underbody guards, and scratch resistant paint on select external finishes.

Further accessories include rally-style mud flaps, additional fog lights, and Subaru Boost Gear Crosstrek concept turquoise accents.

Subaru says the model places emphasis on user-friendliness and includes features such as alloy side steps, a rubber bonnet protector and light protectors, side cladding, a magnetic rear quarter tool holder, wider front guards, a shade awning, LED light bar, and additional front grille LED lights for those “embarking on extensive treks”.

“The Subaru Boost Gear Crosstrek concept is, as it’s named, gear that boost the owner’s use and enjoyment from their vehicle,” explained Mr Read.

“We know our owners like to explore the outdoors thanks to the benefit of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and this concept it a way we can extend the use of their vehicle even further.

“We are sharing the Subaru Boost Gear Crosstrek concept with owners as we look at extending our offerings in this space,” he hinted.
