Subaru announced MY25 updates for BRZ

SUBARU has updated its rear-wheel drive BRZ coupe for 2025 in the process adding a full-size 18-inch spare wheel to the sporty tS variant and introducing a Sport mode to manual transmission models (previously offered only on automatic variants).

Pricing for the updated range is unchanged, continuing a starting point of $43,790 plus on-road costs. The standard equipment list and model walk is otherwise unchanged – as is the vehicle’s mechanical package.

The 2025 Subaru BRZ continues to be powered by a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine developing 174kW and 250Nm and with a choice of six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

The upgrades do not appear as comprehensive as Toyota’s recently announced MY25 upgrade to the BRZ’s twin, the GR86, which is “characterised by multiple mechanical and dynamic enhancements aimed at further improving the model’s already focused dynamic abilities”.

These include revised throttle mapping and omission of the engine’s ignition delay control system, and a higher downshift threshold for automatic variants.

Further GR86 range-wide alterations include retuned electric power steering and damping characteristics aimed at sharpening the feedback and response.

As before, the Subaru BRZ is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels (and full-size spare), an 8.0-inch infotainment array with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, satellite navigation, DAB+ digital radio, dusk-sensing LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, dual-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob, cloth upholstery, keyless entry and ignition, and body-coloured mirror scalps.

Subaru’s standard EyeSight twin camera safety suite adaptive cruise control, AEB (autonomous emergency braking) in forward and reverse directions, auto high beam, brake light recognition, lane departure and sway warning, and lead vehicle start alert to the kit list.

In addition to monitoring other vehicles, it can also detect vulnerable road users including cyclists and pedestrians, and determine their shape, distance, and speed of travel.

Mid-tier BRZ S variants add combination leather-accented and Ultrasuede upholstery with heated front seats, while the flagship tS adds STI-tuned dampers, Brembo brakes, dark grey-finished 18-inch alloys, Crystal Black wing mirror scalps and shark fin antenna, and tS badging and accents.

The MY25 Subaru BRZ is available in paint colours including Crystal Black, Crystal White, Ice Silver, Ignition Red, Magnetite Grey, Sapphire Blue and WR Blue.
