More features for pricier Subaru Exiga

SUBARU has fitted an array of additional features to its Liberty-based Exiga people-mover line-up as part of a 2012 model upgrade.

Entry-level Liberty Exiga 2.5i variants pick up a reversing camera, automatic headlights, steering wheel controls for the Bluetooth phone and audio streaming system, voice command, and USB connectivity with an auxiliary jack.

Automatic headlights have also been added to the flagship Exiga Premium variant.

The extra specifications are accompanied by $500 price increases on both variants, with the 2.5i now costing $37,990 plus on-road costs and the Premium $42,490.

The six-seat Exiga – launched in Australia in November 2009 – is powered by the same 123kW/229Nm 2.5-litre Boxer petrol engine as the Liberty mid-size sedan and wagon with which it shares its platform.

The Exiga is the final member of Subaru’s Liberty family to receive additional features and price hikes for 2012, with the brand announcing similar updates for the Liberty and Outback model ranges last month.

Subaru sold 3898 Libertys in Australia last year – with Exiga sales included in that figure – representing a 37.2 per cent drop from the previous year.
