Liberty 2.0R get sat-nav

SUBARU has added some spice to its Liberty line-up by offering a satellite-navigation system on its 2.0R for a price premium of $500 above the standard model.

The special-edition 2.0R also adds tinted rear windows. It is priced from $32,490 for the manual sedan and $34,490 for the manual wagon. A four-speed automatic adds $2000.

Subaru says its sat-nav system is valued at $2990 and uses the Whereis Map database, widely regarded as one of the most accurate for vehicle satellite-navigation purposes.

It was previously only available on the range-topping Liberty and Outback models.

The system incorporates UBD map data and the latest version covers more than 97 per cent of the country.

The Liberty 2.0R offers a 2.0-litre double overhead cam engine that produces 121kw at 6800rpm and 187Nm at 3200rpm.

It shares the same five-star independent ANCAP crashworthiness rating for occupant safety as the rest of the Liberty range.

Apart from the navigation system, the 2.0R’s standard equipment list runs to dual front, side and curtain airbags, all-wheel drive, ABS, climate-control, cruise control, front foglights, leather steering wheel, gear shift and hand brake trip computer, electric windows, mirrors, remote central locking, Sportshift on automatic variants, 17-inch alloys and a six-speaker AM/FM radio CD stereo.

Just 500 examples of the SE 2.0R will be available.
