THE B4 has borrowed from the Impreza WRX STi and Subaru's World Rally Championship (WRC) program for its suspension set-up, with lightweight Bilstein inverted MacPherson struts specified for the front end. Subaru claims inverted struts provide a higher bending rigidity due to a larger damping tube diameter, as well as affording superior damping characteristics with less damping fade as a result of increased piston size. The front suspension also features cast aluminium lower L-arms and offset coil springs. Rear suspension is an independent, multi-link arrangement - trailing arms and dual transverse links - with coil spring/gas damper units and a rubber mounted anti-roll bar. Development of damping, spring and stabiliser rates and settings for the B4 was undertaken in Japan before being fine tuned at the famous Nurburgring race track in Germany.
