First look: PX crossover heads Suzuki retros

BY NEIL MCDONALD | 6th Oct 2005

WE can’t resist... if the Suzuki PX concept crossover wagon was painted jet-black it would be make a perfect hearse.

The 4.4m long wagon looks like something more suitable for the funeral industry with its sombre dark tinted windows and imposing presence.

Suzuki says the PX, with its 20-inch rims and long body, which has three doors on either side, is more conceptually related to the vintage Airstream caravans. We’ll take their word for it.

Clever packaging and design has allowed for three rows of seats, which in the show car, are upholstered in powder blue.

The front is imposing, with a high centre line and somewhat menacing-looking headlights.

At the back, the lights carry the line of the segregated side glass, clamped into place by the weighty pillars.

Suzuki says they wanted to recreate a visual and conceptual like with those big American Airstream caravans.

The PX is one of several resurgent Suzuki vehicles being shown at the Tokyo show, one of which is called Mom’s Personal Wagon with a smiling grille. We can’t wait.
