SUZUKI will bolster its small SX4 hatch range via the addition of a new all-wheel drive model from this Friday (August 1), when the expanded two-variant SX4 AWD hatch-only line-up will reflect the two-wheel drive SX4 hatch range.
The new entry-level SX4 AWD variant lowers the Suzuki all-wheel drive small-car entry price to $21,990 ($2000 more than the base 2WD SX4) in five-speed manual guise, while the four-speed automatic version costs $2000 more at $23,990.
The existing SX4 AWD ($24,390) becomes the SX4 AWD S, priced $600 higher at $24,990 as a manual and $26,990 as an auto.
Both versions of the SX4 AWD hatch are powered by a 107kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and come equipped with twin front airbags, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), air-conditioning and an MP3-compatible sound system with steering wheel controls.
The SX4 AWD S adds seat-mounted front side airbags, side curtain airbags, remote central locking, cruise control, climate-control air-conditioning, alloy wheels and foglights.
Both AWD SX4s feature Suzuki’s switchable intelligent all-wheel drive (“i-AWD”) system, which features an electronically-controlled wet multi-plate clutch and comprises three driving modes: 2WD, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock – the latter for speeds under 60km/h.
“With a starting price of just $21,990, the addition of an entry-level SX4 AWD will significantly strengthen the line-up and make all-wheel drive even more affordable to lifestyle hungry consumers,” said Suzuki Australia general manager Tony Devers.
“A true crossover, it offers customers the ideal vehicle to pursue an active lifestyle, but with the economy and practicality of a small car.
“The new model SX4 AWD represents excellent value for money. In the small car segment, no other vehicle comes close to matching its combination of practicality and all-wheel drive performance,” said Mr Devers.
