LUGGAGE capacity is right up there with the best among Australian-built cars at 567 litres, a dramatic jump from the old car's already impressive 518 litres. The bootlid opens via a latch on the cabin floor near the driver's seat, or via the key.

The loading height is pretty low, and there is carpet throughout - albeit of an industrial type. We've been concerned about the lack of protection of the rear quarter panels in the previous Camry, having managed put a dent in the sheetmetal when a hard suitacse went walkabout, and this could still be an issue judging by the lack of padding on the inner sides of the boot.
