TOYOTA has released yet another variant of its 100-Series LandCruiser wagon – this time a VX grade to nestle between the entry-level GXL and top-spec Sahara.

In addition to the base GXL’s standard equipment, the VX adds Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control (TRC), full leather trim, tilt-adjustable front head restraints, power front seat adjustment, a second-row centre armrest and front seatback map pockets.

Visually, VX gains a wide side protection moulding and a moonroof with a small overhead console.

The LandCruiser VX petrol auto wagon (with the same 170kW/410Nm 4.7-litre V8) is priced at $68,000, while the 4.2-litre turbo-diesel wagon (with the same 150kW/430Nm engine) carries an $81,000 sticker price.

Meantime, automatic versions of the GXL 4.7-litre petrol and 4.2-litre turbo-diesel are now available with Toyota’s optional Enhanced Safety Pack, which includes VSC and TRC and costs $1200.
