TOYOTA's 78 Series LandCruiser has been bred from a long line of workhorses but has changed its shape little over the previous model. This model will no doubt be in production when Toyota surpasses two decades of sales of this familiar body shape, in 2005. The cabin of the 78 utility has been extended by 120mm and the roof lifted, creating a more spacious interior, and with this the vehicle's overall length has grown 200mm to avoid any loss of payload area. On the outside these changes are evident by the extra metal behind the front door or B-pillar, and the height of the roof panel at the rear gutter. Other items that separate the 78 from its predecessor, the 75 Series, include a new-look grille and front indicator clusters.
