THE Prado's steering is by rack and pinion with power assistance to reduce effort during low speed manoeuvres, such as parking in the supermarket or scrambling down a rocky track. For a relatively large 4WD, the Prado turns pretty sharply too, taking only 11.4 metres from kerb to kerb. The steering's accuracy and light, nimble feel are a significant part of the Prado's appeal in a market where car-like road manners are becoming normal expectations. The Grande has a leather-trimmed steering wheel, adjustable for height.
