THE all-new RAV4 body has increased rigidity and, it is claimed, performance in a collision. Toyota increased the use of high-strength steel sheet for the doors, bonnet and front bumper. Dual airbags are standard across the range, along with front seatbelt pretensioners with force limiters, whiplash-injury lessening (WIL) front seats and energy absorbing pillar and roof garnishes. All seating positions get a three-point belt, however the centre rear misses out on a head restraint. Anti-lock brakes are offered as an option for RAV4 Edge. The new RAV4 has Toyota's latest Global Outstanding Assessment (GOA) body, requiring it to manage 14 per cent more energy than the previous GOA standard.

Child restraint anchorage points are located on the rear seatback to avoid interference between the tether straps and luggage.
