RAV4 V6 to carry same price as Kluger

TOYOTA has announced that pricing for the new V6 version of its compact RAV4 SUV will start at the same level as that of its mid-sized SUV, the Kluger.

The starting price of the six-cylinder all-wheel-drive RAV4 comes in at $39,990, matching the (front-drive) entry-level Kluger.

The sub-$40,000 price is for the RAV4 CV6 model. The next model in the range is the SX6 at $43,990, while the range-topping ZR6 costs $49,990.

Toyota will maintain the price structure of the four-cylinder RAV4, which includes the CV at $31,990, the Cruiser at $37,490 and the Cruiser L at $41,990.

Electronic stability control is standard for all RAV4 V6 models, as are six airbags.

The CV6 comes with air-conditioning, cruise control, a single-CD sound system, five-speed automatic transmission and 17-inch steel wheels.

Stepping up to the SX6 adds alloy wheels, climate-control, a six-stack CD player, sunroof, foglights, roof-rails and tinted windows.

The range-topping ZR6 RAV4 adds a power driver’s seat with lumbar support with heating function, leather trim and satellite-navigation.

Toyota Australia sales and marketing manager, David Buttner, believes the new V6 model will add to its RAV4 sales and is aiming for a total of 1200 sales of four and six-cylinder RAV4 models a month as the car faces increased competition from the Honda CR-V and the new Nissan X-Trail.

“We have had a bit of a battle this year, but in September it went back to number one in its segment and we are absolutely confident with the V6 offering as well that we can continue to maintain the leadership we have and in fact grow it over the next few months,” Mr Buttner said.
