Order books reopen for Toyota GR Yaris

BY MATT BROGAN | 22nd May 2024

TOYOTA Australia has reopened the order books for its popular GR Yaris and will adopt a new approach for delivering all GR performance models to its customers.

Toyota Australia vice president of sales, marketing, and franchise operations Sean Hanley said the moves were made possible by the availability of GR models, which continue to sell in strong numbers locally (see table below).

Mr Hanley said Toyota’s new allocation policy for its four GR models will prioritise deliveries based upon the date a customer places an order, effective July production.

“We always strive for a customer-first approach, so I am pleased to announce that we are moving to a ‘first in, first out’ method for all GR performance cars,” he said.

“It is the fairest way given the normalisation of supply of these in-demand sports cars.

Mr Hanley said the re-opening of orders for the GR Yaris would be welcomed by Toyota customers.

“The GR Yaris has been instrumental in the local success of the GR brand, which has reignited Toyota’s sports car heritage in Australia, and reminded us how much fun you can have driving a Toyota,” he added.

“Hot demand for the GR Yaris has resulted in 2591 sales since its arrival in late 2020, including 1001 of the track-focused GR Yaris Rallye.

Mr Hanley further noted strong sales of other GR models including the GR Supra (1171), GR86 (1609), GR Corolla (788), and GR Corolla Morizo Edition (25).

GR Sport models, including those in the HiLux and LandCruiser ranges, are not included as part of the core ‘GR’ range.
