LARGE diameter disc brakes are provided on all four wheels of the Beetle, internally ventilated at the front. Four-channel anti-lock brakes are standard, with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) integrated into the ABS system.

EBD ensures that the available braking power at the rear wheels can be fully utilised without affecting the car's directional stability.
